How you can help to clean up Scotland's coasts

We need your help to make our vision of a litter and pollution free Scottish coastline a reality. You can get involved and support us in a variety of ways.

The COVID-19 outbreak means that most, if not all, organised beach cleans are now postponed. However, we do anticipate that these will start up again in the coming months.  In the meantime, why not take the time to learn about the different types of beach cleans that take place in your area?

On the beach

We all have a part to play in turning the tide on litter. Join an event or organise your own and be part of the most influential fight against marine litter in the UK!

Join a Marine Conservation Society beach clean through the Beachwatch scheme. Everything collected on the day is documented and becomes part of the evidence base.

Be a part of Keep Scotland Beautiful's year-round 'Clean Up Scotland' campaign - aiming to build community pride and make Scotland clean for future generations. Register your Clean Up event and you can access their Clean Up kits and have your event advertised on the Clean Up Scotland events map.

There are lots of other organised beach cleans, or you might collect litter on your dog walk or other beach trip.

Take a look at our SCRAPbook Good Practice Guide for some advice on beach cleans...

We are very grateful for your support in taking action to target coastal litter!
